The serene Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara and Lake
A classic example of the multi-religious fabric of India is the fact that Hemkund Sahibji, one of the holiest Sikh shrines in India is a neighbor of the Chardhams of Kedarnath and Badrinath-holiest pilgrimage for Hindus.
Nestled high in the Himalayas of the Nandadevi Biosphere Reserve, Hemkund Sahibji is a gurudwara located on the banks of the Amrit Sarovar, where the Brahma kamal of Lotus of the Gods blossoms.
The gurudwara is dedicated to Guru Gobind Singhji, the last Sikh Guru who spoke of the message of peace and harmony here.
Interestingly, the place also finds mention in several Hindu writings and is considered equally divine by the Hindus as well.
The closest town to Hemkund Sahib is Joshimath located 40 km away.
