Tirupati Balaji Temple

The Famous, Venkateshwara Tirupati Balaji Temple

One of the biggest cornerstones of the intensely religious land that is India, the Tirupati Temple or as it is officially known, the Sri Venkateshwara Temple, is located on the Tirumala hill, at the foot of which Tirupati is located.

This temple has been at the center of several legends in history and mythology.
Dedicated to Venkateshwara, known as the Lord of the Seven Hills, the Tirupati Temple is a fine example of the Pallava architecture and sculpture, especially the sanctum sanctorum with its exquisitely carved pillars and the beautiful image of the deity.

The piece de resistance, however, is definitely the gold-plated ‘vimana’ rising above the sanctum, which is a fitting shelter for the gold and diamond covered deity.
The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TDD) which is the caretaker authority of the temple provides a complete temple tour, accommodation and food for worshippers.
