Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities of the world.

An ancient seat of religion and education of India, Varanasi has been variably known as Benaras and Kashi.
Located on the banks of the Ganga, the ghats at Varanasi leading to the river are the biggest attraction and the object of especial beauty in the evenings when thousands of lamps are lit along them.
It is believed that to be cremated in Kashi is to achieve deliverance from earthly bondage.
It is one of the holiest sites for Hindus.
Besides the several temples here, Varanasi is a lesson in the basic core of Indian culture, faith and tradition.
It is not Hindu, it is something beyond that; it is spirituality, which persons of all faiths can easily comprehend and soak in.
A visit to Varanasi is a must for every Indian at least once in their lifetime.

Best time to visit Varanasi,Uttar Pradesh:

September-November being winter in India , is the best time to move around.

Getting there/Reaching to Varanasi:
By air
Flights from several Indian cities operate to Varanasi.

By rail
Several major trains pass through the two railway stations in Varanasi, namely the Kashi Junction and the Varanasi Junction. Mughal Sarai (10 km) is another nearby railhead.

By road
A good network of roads connects Varanasi to the rest of the country.

Shopping in Varanasi is an experience in itself.
Home of the world-famous Benarasi silk saris and fine brocades, Varanasi markets are full of cloth vendors.
Besides silks, Varanasi is famous for Banarasi carpets, shawls, zari work, inlaid stonework and bangles.
The best places to shop are Vishwanath Gali, Lahurabir, Godoulia, Golghar and Dashswamedh Gali. Food is another story altogether.
As rich as the culture here, the food is packed with spices and is dripping with ghee.
‘Langda Aam’, a variety of mango and different types of ‘Chaats’ or street food must be sampled.

Lucknow,”The city of Nawabs” , also a vibrant center of Urdu and Hindu literature.

Culturally rich, Lucknow is the symbol of a fast-disappearing India, where tehzeeb was an intrinsic part of everyday discourse.
Although this is rapidly becoming stuff of legend, the wonders of Lucknow are still intact for visitors to explore.
A unique Muslim culture that sprung up in the midst of intensely religious Hindu sites makes for a beautiful combination in the heart of Uttar Pradesh.
Some wonderful monuments must be visited by tourists here, the last vestiges of the Nawabi rule here.
However, history aside, Lucknow is a very modern city as well and tourists are assured of the best of facilities-an obvious fact, considering that Lucknow is the capital of the state.

Best time to visit Lucknow:

October-March is the best time to travel to Lucknow.

Getting there/reaching to/travel to Lucknow:

By air
Lucknow airport operates flights from all parts of the country including Delhi, Patna, Varanasi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

By rail
Lucknow is well-connected by the rail network to all parts of the state and the country as well.

By road
Keeping controversies aside, Ayodhya is a beautiful tourist spot and pilgrimage destination.
Located on the banks of the River Saryu, Ayodhya is believed to have served as the capital city during the reign of Lord Rama.

Nathula, the closest you can get to China from Indian border

The traditional path that marked the ancient connection between two great cultures, Nathu La is a part of the famed Silk Route that passed between India and China in the ancient times.
It was the bone of contention between the two countries during the Indo-China war, which explains the heavy presence of military here.
Tourists are not allowed to stay over in Nathu La for this reason.
However, this does not diminish in any way the awe-inspiring beauty of the snow-clad mountains here and its absolute wild nature.
Nathu La is the closest civilians can really get to the Chinese border and the sentiment is quite strongly felt.

Best time to visit:

It would be from April to September, when there is no snowing as the pass gets blocked in winters.

Reaching to /Traval to Nathula Mountain Pass,Sikkim:
