Ayodhya, an important pilgrim place for Hindus

One of the most ancient cities of India, Ayodhya is also probably the most sacred, being the birthplace of Shri Ram.
Keeping controversies aside, Ayodhya is a beautiful tourist spot and pilgrimage destination.
Located on the banks of the River Saryu, Ayodhya is believed to have served as the capital city during the reign of Lord Rama.
It is hence, dotted with temples dedicated to Shri Ram, Sita, Hanuman and other prominent members of the simian army that was instrumental in Rama’s defeat of Ravana.
Ayodhya is best visited at the time of Dussehra in the months of October-November.
The Ram Leela celebrations here are grander spectacles than those in other parts of India.
The religious pulse of India can be really experienced in Ayodhya.
Interestingly, mosque domes intermingle with temple towers against the skyline of Ayodhya.
