Panchgani, a summer resort and weekend getaway from Mumbai

Panchgani, a quintessential hill-station with the best boarding schools around

The site of the famous Table Land, Panchgani is a favorite destination for tourists in Maharashtra who may be visiting nearby Mahabaleshwar.
A quiet laid-back place, Panchgani is not for those who wish to paint the town red.
Rather, it is best to laze around, go for short hikes in the mountains and come back refreshed with the clean air and birdsong.
Most importantly, Panchgani is a tourist spot of all seasons, with different forms of natural beauty being manifested each time of the year.
Strawberries and related preserves are the best buys here.

Aurangabad, a city seeped in medieval Mughal history

Gateway to  the UNESCO-recognized world heritage sites of Ajanta & Ellora Caves, Aurangabad is a place of immense historical importance, which makes it highly attractive to tourists.

The symbol of the Mughal power in Maharashtra, Aurangabad is dotted with vestiges of this legacy.

Besides this, it was the site of settlement of Buddhist monks and Jain thinkers which explain the existence of the impressive Ajanta-Ellora caves with its centuries-old cave paintings and the Jain rock-cut temples.

One drawback of visiting Aurangabad is that most places of interest are located at a considerable distance from the main city. Thus, though visitors stay in the city, further road travel is required for most sightseeing.
